    FIRSTKIDS SUNDAY MORNING VOLUNTEER

    DESCRIPTION  Leading bible-focused or worship-focused learning on Sunday mornings, providing additional adult supervision to create a safe environment for our children, technical support, and organizing and sorting supplies. Options include preschool Sunday School leader and assistant, elementary Sunday School leader and assistant, Souled Out 4th and 5th grade small group leader, W.O.W. (Wonders of Worship) helpers.


    FIRSTKIDS WEDNESDAY EVENING VOLUNTEERS

    DESCRIPTION  Assist with children’s choir, providing additional adult supervision to create a safe environment for our children. Options include helping with preschool and Worship Arts assistant.

     

    FIRSTKIDS VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL LEADERS

    DESCRIPTION  Leadership opportunities range from being an activity leader (games, crafts, etc) to being a Group Guide that escorts the same small group of children through activity centers each day. This is an action packed, fun-filled week of Bible Learning for our 3 year old – 3rd Grade FIRSTKIDS.

    FUNERAL/MEMORIAL SERVICE MINISTRY

    DESCRIPTION To serve your church family and comfort those who mourn. These volunteers usher at funerals and memorial services or help host luncheons for family members or receptions/visitations.


    Card Care Ministry:

    Description To communicate care and concern through greeting cards during difficult times for those in need.


    Alter Flower Ministry:

    Description To make floral arrangements using Alter flowers from Sunday services to those in the hospital, nursing homes, or to other church members who have long-term or acute needs.


    Nursing Home/ Assisted Living Visitation Ministry:

    Description Volunteers spend one hour each month with church members who live in local nursing homes or assisted living facilities. 


    Hospital Goodie Bag Ministry and Quarter Sunday

    Description Members of the church who are in the hospital are given a "goodie bag" which includes snacks, puzzle books, notepads, pens, and other items that might be helpful to the patient and their family members. 


    Soup Sisters/Broth Brothers Frozen Food Ministry:

    Description This group of men and women prepare and deliver homemade soup, cornbread, and desserts to members of our church family during times of acute need.


    Stephen Ministry:

    More information on the Stephen Ministry Program will be available in 2016.


    Valet Parking Ministry:

    Description Every Sunday, several faithful men volunteer to assist individuals by parking their cars.


    Nursing Home Communion Ministry:

    Description Each month, one of our pastors offers communion after a short devotional at two of our local nursing homes/retirement home communities.

    CENTRAL/MARTIN LUTHER KING ELEMENTARY VOLUNTEERS

    DESCRIPTION  Volunteers needed one hour per week in a classroom helping at-risk students with any of the early childhood education components (reading, math, or writing).


    EAGLES WINGS, INC.

    DESCRIPTION Volunteers needed to assist with the daytime rehabilitation program or volunteer to assist with local fundraisers for the planned residential portion of the facility.


    LOVE, INC. (LOVE IN THE NAME OF CHRIST)

    DESCRIPTION To mobilize the Church to transform lives and communities in Tuscaloosa County by helping people in need. Performing office tasks as well as helping with life skills classes, etc.


    TUSCALOOSA COMMUNITY SOUP BOWL

    DESCRIPTION  Assist with the feeding of the needy of Tuscaloosa. Serve the lunch meals Monday – Friday. 


    YOUTH FOR CHRIST/TEEN MOMS

    DESCRIPTION  Help bring a Christian presence into the Tuscaloosa County/City school system by visiting students for lunch on the various campuses. Assist young mothers in their attempt to raise their children in a Christian environment.


    APPALACHIAN OUTREACH MISSION TEAM

    DESCRIPTION  Working with underprivileged people in Appalachia and showing the love of Jesus to the people of Appalachia with our service through various areas of community ministry.


    COOKING FOR CHRIST

    DESCRIPTION  Be apart of this Christian ministry that supports other faith-based ministries by preparing meals to be used for different occasions. Set-up, prep cooking, food preparation, and clean up.


    KAIROS PRISON MINISTRY (MEN'S PRISONS)

    DESCRIPTION  Take the love of Jesus into the Alabama Prison System. Weekend programs in several state prisons where the team will cook and serve food, lead Bible studies for prisoners, or do one-to-one witnessing to prisoners.


    KAIROS PRISON MINISTRY (WOMEN'S PRISONS)

    DESCRIPTION  Take the love of Jesus to women in Aliceville Federal Prison in the Alabama Prison System. Weekend programs where the team will cook and serve food, lead Bible studies for prisoners, or do one-to-one witnessing to prisoners.


    CHILE VOLUNTEERS IN MISSION TEAM

    DESCRIPTION Assist the local Chilean church with creating Christian relationships with the individuals in the communities we serve. Small team of volunteers that work in Chile, projects include construction, Evangelism, or Vacation Bible Schools.

     

    CHALLENGE FARM, KITALE KENYA, VOLUNTEERS IN MISSION TEAM

    DESCRIPTION Show the love of Jesus to the people of Kenya with our service through various areas of community ministry. Work with abused, neglected, orphaned Kenyan children that reside at The Challenge Farm


    HONDURAS MEDICAL MISSION TEAM

    DESCRIPTION  Show the love of Jesus to the people of Honduras with our service through the Hands of Christ Medical Ministry. Work with John & Dr. Ana Lamon in their medical ministry, work with the physicians to help the physical hurts of the individuals. We will also work with the local churches to bring the hope of Jesus to all those we come in contact with.


    INDIA OUTREACH MISSION TEAM

    DESCRIPTION  Assist the local Chilean church with creating Christian relationships with the individuals in the communities we serve. Small team of volunteers that work in India, projects include construction, Evangelism, or Vacation Bible Schools.


    RUSSIAN ORPHANAGE VOLUNTEERS IN MISSION TEAM

    DESCRIPTION Support the orphanage work of Charlie & Miki Chastain. To show love of Jesus to children that have no parents or caregivers. Work in the orphanages of St.Petersburg with physically disabled children and on their summer camp work.


    MISSIONARY PRAYER TEAM

    DESCRIPTION  Support the ministry of all missionaries we serve by praying for their specific needs. We will combine all missionary prayer needs into an e-mail and forward that to each of our prayer team members to pray for each missionaries specific needs.


    LOCAL GLOBAL OUTREACH TEAM (GO TEAM)

    DESCRIPTION To facilitate the operations of local outreach ministries by assisting in the coordination of Local mission projects and distribution of faith promise funds to local ministries.This is best described as a working board of directors for local outreach.

    DESCRIPTION Provide leadership for children's sports programs of Girls' Softball, Girls' and Boys' Basketball. Teach God's messages through good sportsmanship and fellowship. Coach these children's teams and coordinate practices and provide leadership at the games.

     

    FUMC CO-ED CHURCH ADULT SOFTBALL MANAGER/COACH (PARA)

    DESCRIPTION Provide leadership and fellowship for our adult church softball team. Manager/Coach will recruit, manage, and coach coed softball for adults (must be 18 yrs and older) to play.

    CONFIRMATION LEADER

    DESCRIPTION  Lead groups in the confirmation process to help “digest” the lessons being taught and develop relationships with the students you are responsible for.


    SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER

    DESCRIPTION  Sunday School Teachers facilitate discussion in groups split according to age and gender. These discussion will be based off of curriculum that will be given according to the age group.


    WORSHIP VOLUNTEER

    DESCRIPTION  Help supervise during youth worship.


    OVER-NIGHT VOLUNTEER

    DESCRIPTION  To create a safe environment for students to sleep at the church during “lock-in”/over-night type events. Volunteers are needed to spend the night at the church during weekend events.


    STUDENT BUS DRIVER

    DESCRIPTION  Drive for special events (special events, movie nights, etc.) This is a special need during the summer.

    BRIDGE COFFEE TEAM

    DESCRIPTION  Provide coffee as a welcome for Bridge worship participants. Prepare and cleanup coffee for 9:00 am and/or 11:00 am Bridge worship.


    BRIDGE PRAYER TEAM

    DESCRIPTION  The essential team addresses prayer needs and concerns of those who attend worship and help lead The Bridge. They also work with the pastors and other key worship staff to arrange prayer within The Bridge Worship service.


    BRIDGE SACRED SPACE TEAM

    DESCRIPTIONS  Helps enhance worship through the use of visual art and design within the Bridge worship and welcome space.


    BRIDGE DRAMA (S.T.A.G.E.): SHARING OUR TALENTS AND GIFTS WITH EVERYONE

    DESCRIPTION  Sharing God’s message through the power of Drama. Skits, dramatic readings and dance that complement the message of the day.


    BRIDGE TECHNICAL TEAM

    DESCRIPTION  Assist in running technical aspects of worship at the Bridge. Opportunities involve programming of the lighting system for worship services and other events, operating cameras used during worship and live streaming, creation and discovery of graphics, and creating cue lists for worship using ProPresenter.


    BRIDGE VIDEO PRODUCTION

    DESCRIPTION  Work with the Bridge Design Team to create short 3 – 5 minute videos to be used in worship.


    BRIDGE HOLY COMMUNION SERVERS

    DESCRIPTION  A very powerful ministry opportunity in which you will serve on a rotating schedule to be a Communion server during either the 9:00 am or 11:00 am Bridge Worship Service.

     

    WORSHIP HOST/GREETER IN THE BRIDGE WORSHIP

    DESCRIPTION  Welcome and seat guests. Hosts also take up offering and count attendance. Hosts are available to show people the way to the nursery area.


    ACOLYTE AND CRUFICERS IN TRADITIONS WORSHIP

    DESCRIPTION Acolytes and Crucifers are needed for 9:00 am, 11:00 am and/or special worship services. They also prepare the offering during the service and present it to the altar. They are a very vital part of our traditional service.


    ALTAR GUILD IN TRADITIONS WORSHIP

    DESCRIPTION  The Altar Guild plans and prepares the altar and chancel area for worship and special services.


    ADULT CHANCEL CHOIR IN TRADITIONS WORSHIP

    DESCRIPTION  There are several adult choirs which provide music leadership for the services of worship; 9:00, 11:00 and special services, and special programs. There are also special seasonal opportunities to be a part of the adult music.


    ADULT HANDBELLS IN TRADITIONS WORSHIP

    DESCRIPTION  Lead the congregation in the worship of God through the gift of handbell music. This ensemble rehearses weekly to play throughout the school year. The Handbells also play with choir and other instrumental ensembles during the year. The Handbells are also responsible for the Hanging of the Greens service which begins our season of Advent


    CREATIVE WORSHIP ARTS IN TRADITIONS WORSHIP

    DESCRIPTION  Enhance the worship service in Traditions through the use of the creative talent of the congregation. Artists, painters, sculptors, poets, and all other people with creative talent are involved in the design of a creative worship service.


    COMMUNION GUILD IN TRADITIONS WORSHIP

    DESCRIPTION This group organizes the elements for Communion Sundays. With Communion occurring monthly and at special services like Christmas Eve, Good Friday, etc., the responsibility of this guild is very important to the worship in the Sanctuary.


    SOUND & LIGHT OPERATOR AT 9:00 or 11:00 AM TRADITIONS WORSHIP

    DESCRIPTION  Adults are needed to operate the light & soundboard in the balcony of the sanctuary. This is a very important responsibility as we broadcast the service over the radio. Also, operators are also responsible for special seasonal worship services and also weddings and funerals


    FLOWER GUILD IN TRADITIONS WORSHIP

    DESCRIPTION  This team will plan and prepare flower arrangements for the altar and sanctuary. Also, the Flower Guild is responsible for the special seasonal worship services like Christmas Eve, Easter, Ash Wednesday, etc.


    HOSTS AT 9:00 OR 11:00 AM IN TRADITIONS WORSHIP

    DESCRIPTION  Hosts are participants in worship that use their gifts of warm and inviting personalities to greet & welcome worshippers into the service. They also assist in the service by taking up the offering, putting out extra chairs when needed, and escorting members of the congregation to the rail during the services of Communion. Hosts are also needed for special seasonal services and funerals.
